Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Yousef Raji confirmed that the continued presence of the Iranian Ambassador, Mohamed Reza Al-Shaibani, in Lebanon contradicts a final and enforceable sovereign decision, does not accept any exception or interpretation, and is not subject to any status settlement.
He pointed out that the expiration of the ambassador's visa cannot be interpreted, stressing that declaring him persona non grata obliges him to leave.
Raji stressed that returning to the normal path in relations with the mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran begins with Tehran’s compliance with the Lebanese state’s decision, in accordance with diplomatic principles and rules.
Raji called on Iranian officials to stop their interference in Lebanese internal affairs, the latest of which was the positions issued by the Speaker of the Iranian Shura Council.
